Dr. Ahmad Reza Moosavi-Zare is a prominent Associate Professor of Organic Chemistry at the Hamedan University of Technology in Iran. He is internationally recognized for his extensive research in green chemistry, the development of novel magnetic nanocatalysts, and multi-component synthetic methods for pharmaceutical compounds.

Her research focused on developing a drug delivery protocol, the formulation of which is capable of delivering a single dose of a drug and will effectively cause depletion of ovarian follicles. She studied drug absorption and its elution profile into the physiological environment of the mouse model from timed-release delivery carriers such as polymeric nanoparticles and biodegradable microspheres. Anna Ghurbanyan has been teaching organic chemistry at Columbia University since the summer of 2008. She is also the instructor of Science Honors Program, a high-school program that introduces students to the principles of organic chemistry through lectures, demonstrations, laboratory experiments, and spectroscopic techniques.

Research Summary
The inseparable nature of Chemistry and Biology has encouraged many productive collaborations leading to the establishment of this relatively new research and teaching environment. The chemistry and biology of poly-, oligo- and monosaccharides and their enzymatic processing is particularly interesting in health and disease. Our focus is on the applied chemistry and value addition of abundant natural marine polymers, such as chitin and alginates. Our interest also includes targeting small molecule carbohydrate biomarkers that has been proven critical for the survival of pathogenic bacteria.

Professor B. Jaganmohan Reddy is a distinguished academic serving as a professor at Adikavi Nannaya University in Rajahmundry, Andhra Pradesh, India. With expertise in Chemistry, he has made significant contributions to the field, publishing research in prestigious international journals. Professor Reddy is renowned for his extensive teaching experience, imparting knowledge and fostering academic growth among students. His dedication to education is evidenced by his supervision of more than 10 Ph.D. students at Nannaya University, facilitating their research and scholarly development. Dr. Cuirong Sun is currently a Professor at College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Zhejiang University. She obtained Bachelor degree and Master degree in Chemistry from Lanzhou University, respectively; and obtained her Ph.D. degree in Chemistry from Zhejiang University. Her major interest is focused on the Pharmaceutical Analysis involved in chiral drugs, and specialize in the trace analysis with LC/MS.

She teaches Organic Medicinal and Pharmaceutical Chemistry Structural Elucidation Steroids Photochemistry and Photostability. She has awards and grants of Rhodes University Vice Chancellor’s Senior Distinguished Teaching Award 2014 Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences of South Africa Distinguished Teacher Award 2016 HELTASA / CHE National Excellence in Teaching and Learning Award 2016: Commendation HERS-SA Academy 2016. She is affiliated with South African Chemical Institute (SACI) Pharmaceutical Society of South Africa (PSSA) Southern African Biochemistry and Informatics for Natural Products (SABINA) ."

Lara K. Mahal is the Canada Excellence Research Chair (CERC) in Glycomics and a Professor of Chemistry at the University of Alberta. She is the Founding Director of the Glycomics Institute of Alberta. She obtained her B.A. in Chemistry at UC Santa Cruz (1995), her Ph.D. in Chemistry at UC Berkeley (2000) with Professor Carolyn Bertozzi and was the Jane Coffin Childs Postdoctoral Fellow in the laboratory of Professor James Rothman at Sloan-Kettering Institute (2000-2003). She started her first independent position as an Assistant Professor in Chemistry at the University of Texas at Austin in 2003. Post-tenure in 2009, Professor Mahal moved to New York University, where she was faculty member from 2009-2019. In September 2019, she joined the faculty of the University of Alberta as the CERC in Glycomics. She has received numerous awards including the Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation Fellowship (2004), NSF Career Award (2007), Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Fellowship (2008), National Institutes of Health Director’s New Innovator Award (2008), the Horace Isbell Award for Carbohydrate Chemistry from the American Chemical Society (2017).

Our research interests encompass biotechnological multi-disciplinary topics based on the collective understanding of the surface chemistry of biochips and nanomaterials to develop chemically well-defined tools for disease diagnostics, drug development, and drug delivery.
Materials side of the lab focuses on the synthesis and surface chemistry of nanomaterials (gold, iron oxide, graphene oxide, silica, etc) and 2D substrates and applications for devices. Biology side of the lab emphasizes biological/analytical applications of the nanomaterials and 2D substrates in the areas of biochips, biosensors, drug discovery and drug delivery system.

Dr. Sheng received his B.S. in Chemistry from Hangzhou University (now Zhejiang University) in 1994 and his M.S in Chemistry from Shanghai Institute of Applied physics of CAS (The Chinese Academy of Science) in 1997. He received his Ph.D in Medicinal Chemistry from Zhejiang University in Jun. 2005. Dr. Sheng did his postdoctoral training in drug design and synthesis at Prof. Shaomeng Wang’s lab, University of Michigan, from Jun. 2009 to Nov. 2010. In where, Dr. Sheng and Prof.Wang co-invented APG-1387 as novel Smac mimetic dimer for the treatment of solid tumors, which has been advanced into phase I clinical trials in Australia and China in 2015 and 2016, respectively. Dr. Sheng has published more than 40 papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals, and is an inventor on more than 15 patents.

Sami Sajjadifar was born in Malekshahi-Ilam, Iran, in 1973. He studied chemistry at the University Of Shahid Chamran, Ahvaz, Iran, and received the M.S. degree in organic chemistry with Professor Mohammad Mehdi Baradarani at Urmia University, Urmia, Iran, in 2000 and the Ph.D. degree also in organic chemistry with Professor Mohammad Ali Zolfigol at Bu-Ali Sina University, Iran, and Payame Noor University (PNU) of Mashhad, Iran, in 2012. He focused his doctoral thesis on the application of boron sulfonic acid (BSA) catalyst in organic synthesis. His research interests focus on the application of new reagents in organic reactions, the synthesis of different types of organic compounds, design, and study of novel solid acid catalyst and organic reaction.

Dr. Seema Habib Isa has completed her Ph.D. at the age of 33 years from the Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, Nanded, Maharashtra, India. Awarded with Honorary Degree of Doctor of Science for outstanding Scientific Contribution in Chemisty by International Agency for standards and Ratings. Awarded the Prestigious Adarsh Saraswati Rashtriya Puraskar by Global Management Council of Glacier Journal Research Foundation, Ahmadabad, Gujarat. She is a Fellow of the International Association of the Science Impact (F.I.A.S.I), published more than 47 papers in reputed journals and has been serving as an Editorial Board Member of the National Journals and International Journals. Her area of research interest is Organic Synthesis and its applications to Inorganic Synthesis.
